As a parent with an obsession for new tech and gadgets, I am always on the lookout for ways to promote learning for my kids through means of modern technology. This is one of the things that inspired me to write The Witchy-Po and Cookies & Milk for my children.
I recently stumbled on something called Play-i (https://www.play-i.com). It proposes to teach children as young as 5 the basics of programming using robots. Remember Logo? Think of it as Logo on steroids. Whether or not this works remains to be seen, but it is an interesting and fascinating proposition. Check out their website and you will find some videos showing how kids are interacting with these learning toys and engaging their thought processes. Pretty cool stuff. The founders seem alright too. I’ve also just noticed they only have about a day left to take reserves for their launch in Summer 2014.
It looks fun, and judging by the videos on their site, I can’t wait to see how my kids will react, interact, and learn with something like this.
UPDATE 2014-12-13: the developers have changed their name to Wonder Workshop. For more info, check here: https://www.makewonder.com.
